Wow. I kind of missed out on La Roux's first album but I did hear, and loved, Bulletproof. Five years have now passed and during which Ellie Jackson split from her music-writing partner to effectively go solo. I rarely wasn't expecting too much from this CD: it's been such a long time coming and that normally means a troubled production, but I liked the latest single from this new album and so I bought the CD on a whim. And it's good - really good. Most of the tracks took a couple of plays to endear themselves but for the past couple of weeks nearly all of them have, at one point or another, been stuck in my head. My favourite album of the year so far, and highly recommended if you liked the previous La Roux stuff.
