This review is from: The Unlikely Pilgrimage Of Harold Fry (Kindle Edition)
This tale unfolds and as Harold walks so more of the story of his life and his marriage unfolds.
The effect of his absence has a profound and moving effect on his wife and neighbour. It has some surprises for the reader. Slowly the full story of Harold and his wife are laid before the characters theselves and the reader.
It was a very enjoyable read. Most thought provoking. If you learn anything from this it is to keep talking! I have known friends with marriages where they stopped talking and started making assumptions about what the other was thinking/feeling, the reason d'etre behind their actions. That is so sad.
The places Harold visits are secondary to the people and the events that over take him. To my amazment he visited my home town. I think the author is fairly local to me which may have something to do with it!
I felt at the end of its journey it lost its way a bit - as did Harold I suppose. I felt the plot was starting to fray.
