Good camera but lacks features,
This review is from: Sony DSCHX5VB Cyber-shot Digital Camera - Black (10MP, 10x Optical Zoom) 3 inch LCD (Electronics)I need to replace my Panasonic Lumix after I lost it on a recent trip and, although I like the Lumix, I liked the idea of the panoramic feature of this camera.
First - the panoramic is a great feature. I've managed to take some great pictures with it - some of scenery, some of people. They show up on my computer background as a thin strip across the screen, with big thick black borders above and below - they still look pretty good. Playback on the camera is quite neat as well - zoom in and the camera scrolls across the image on the screen.
Second - HD video is fantastic. I managed to get some good videos, even in low light. I'm looking forward to trying it out on the ski slopes in the winter.
Third - Burst mode. 10 shots in a second helps capture some great moments. It's not quite SLR, but it's a useful setting. Unfortunately, I did find myself, or others, accidentally hitting the burst mode button instead of the on/off button. I normally didn't notice until I next took a shot and the flash failed to fire (the flash does not work in burst mode)
On the downside, the camera does lack other settings. One thing I liked on the Lumix was to switch to black and white mode. This camera lacks that settings and a few other similar ones.
Overall, it's a good point and click camera, with the added advantage of HD video and panoramic shots. On the downside, a few more features, especially in manual mode, would have made this an exceptional camera.

Man alive - a few more features. This is a compact camera so you are only going to get so much on it. As for black and white you can do that on any computer - post pro is a given for photography in general surely?
