This review is from: Brother of the More Famous Jack (Paperback)
I first read this book very many years ago - and it has stayed in my head. I re-read it every few years, and each time I think that it is a little modern classic. Others have mentioned Jane Austen, and I agree. Like the novels of the almighty Jane, this novel is perfectly formed, the language is spot on, the characters are observed with a sharp eye and with wit. And, at the heart, Catherine is a young woman coming of age. I can't recommend this highly enough.
