Difficult to get at time of writing, but great glasses...,
This review is from: Jamie Oliver Wine Glasses, 45 cl, Set of 4 (Kitchen & Home)
Searching for a nice (large) red wine glass that you could get your nose into, I came across these Jamie Oliver wine glasses!
Now although most people might absolutely love the young and "cheeky" Mr Oliver, I have to put my hand up right now & admit that the geezer really grates on me and gives me the absolute pip... Don't get me wrong, as Im sure that he is a lovely guy... I just simply cannot watch anything with him in it without getting the heebie-jeebies & coming out in a nasty rash!
I just had to get that out of the way in showing that I did not order these glasses simply out of admiration for the fellow (if anything his association with these glasses actually had a greater potential to put me off)...
Putting that (highly opinionated... sorry) but honest digression aside, what are the glasses like?
I have always purchased the large crystal type wineglasses in the past, and although they do enhance a decent drop of the red-stuff admirably, they do require careful handling and washing in order to survive for any length of time. To my mind, a red wine glass that you cannot get your hooter into is nothing short of a white-elephant... These 45cl glasses therefore serve extremely well, and a reasonable slug of the grapey stuff can be sloshed liberally around in them in order to release its aroma.
Despite being of quite thick glass, they do feel & look pretty refined whilst being quite tough. The heavy glass bases look extremely cool & further enhances their stability.
My conclusion? These are blinking excellent glasses with just one downside... The great man himself has his name moulded in the stems (now where did I leave that file???)... :)
PS: Currently only available for pre-order (out of stock) on Amazon (and frustratingly out of stock EVERYWHERE else, apart from online at NEXT for just thirteen quid collected from your nearest NEXT HOME branch). You will note that the ad only states the glass height (and not volume), and so might worry that they are selling the smaller (35cl) version of this glass...
Do not fear, as it is the 45cl version (they do not sell the smaller glass).
PS: That unhelpful vote was a bit mean, Jamie :) !

Ha ha, l agree with all of this review. Only downside I have found with these glasses is that the stem can sheer off if not handled with a little care in the dishwasher.
