Almost no pictures...,
This review is from: Rose Elliot's New Complete Vegetarian (Hardcover)Don't let this book's pictures gallery on Amazon fool you, it only contains pictures for the "here comes a new chapter!"-pages with generic pictures of "salads", "soups", etc. It doesn't have any pictures connected to the actual recipes (except in a few rare cases) so it's not a good book for quickly browsing for inspiration.
The recipes themselves are high quality though. They are easy to follow, use reasonably common ingredients and there are lots of them!
If it had (a lot!) more pictures showing off the dishes I would had given it 5 stars.

Mr. R. Marsden says:
This is a really helpful review, as on the site you wouldn't know if the recipes are pictured or not. I always like to see what the finished product is supposed to look like, so even though this book's recipes are recommended I won't be buying it. Thank you for alerting me to the lack of pictures!

J. A. Shenstone says:
This is one of the best vegetarian cook books on the market. I have the original version which I have been using for years. Why do you need pictures? Her recipes are brilliant.

Per Wigren says:
Because pictures are good for quickly browsing for inspiration. They help when you don't know what you're looking for.
The five preview pages shown here in the Amazon gallery are deceiving because they don't reflect the actual content of the book. Those pictures shown are almost all pictures in the entire book. Maybe I'm just old fashioned (34 and still have a mohawk) but I think that product information should describe products accurately so customers can make informed decisions and not waste money on things that aren't what they thought they were.
Yes, her recipes are very good and I wrote that in my review as well. If a plain text vegetarian recipe book is what you're looking for, this is one of the best.

Very many thanks, I had been going to buy a copy, but will now save some money and buy the older one instead, I was tempted by the siren call of *pictures* but if it doesn't have any of any use I'll stick with the original version

Shenstone: "Why do yu need pictures" ???? Pictures are absolutely essential in a cookbook, perhaps the most essential of it all. A modern cookbook should of course provide a photo of each recipe, I would never buy a book lacking photos. Thanks to those reviewers who talk about this important aspect.
It is very true, as Per says, that a great number of Amazon reviews are uninteresting and even misleading because they don't comment on what the book is really like.
