Remains an excellent pocket guide - if a little conservative,

I have been through any number of editions of this, though this is the first for some years. It packs a huge amount of drinkable information into little space and has plugged many a gap in my knowledge.
The only criticism is that it is perhaps a little backward looking. The traditional wine areas are very well covered, Switzerland even getting a decent sized chapter to itself(even though swiss wines are not easily obtainable outside the country). Meanwhile emerging regions, Turkey for instance, only merit a paragraph, just giving local vine varieties.
A lot of the excitement of wine is discovering the new whereas this book perhaps tends to consolidate the old. Its a minor criticism of a continuing great wine book.
