This review is from: Hard Girls (Hardcover)This book is awful compared to martina coles usual standards! It is like reading a watered down version of her old material! I dont know whats gone on with her! The book doesnt contain Martinas usual bad language and knowledge of the underworld! The relationship with kate and patrick is totally unbelieveable, it really is just a watered down version of her usual material. I read martinas books in a day as I get so hooked but with this book I have had to really force myself to read it - awful! Wouldnt recommend this and please dont waste the money on getting the hardback - get it from the library if you really want to read it!!!!!!!

I had been really looking forward to reading the reviews on this book, I said after her last I would not read another one of her books, but I had read somewhere that she would be back to her old style of writing with Hard Girls. I am struggerling to get through this book "how many times do we need to read that Pat & Kate have aged". I will carry on plodding my way through the book but I agree total waste of money - I have read every one of her other books but I'm afraid that's it for me I will never buy another.

Mrs. Janet Smith says:
Yes, I'd agree with trying Jessie Keane. June Hampson is also very good. I got fed up with Martina's books and don't even bother buying them now. The last couple have been truly abysmal.

i have been a fan of Martina Cole for years and have read all her books. but to be honest i just could not get into this book, after about halfway through i wanted to just leave it, i wasn't at all interested in the plot or characters. it did not grab me in the way Ms Coles earlier books did, in fact i could not be bothered with it. ever since her book Faces came out her writing has become repetetive and boring. i don't know what has happened to her, but as my old English teacher would say, " Can do better." i used to look forward to Martina Coles books coming out, now i would sooner read Mandasue Heller or Kimberley Chambers. i will get Martina Coles next book, but will wait until the paperback version.
