Passionate. Dark, Intense and amazing!,
This review is from: The Innocent's Dark Seduction (Mills & Boon Modern) (Paperback)
Jennie Lucas has written a compelling contemporary romance with The Innocent's Dark Seduction. As the title suggests it is dark and intense as a Modern or Presents should be and that's why I'm such a fan of the line and this particular author. Jennie Lucas never fails to deliver to her readers and immediately one is drawn into this steamy love story.
Honestly, the first chapters are an amazing beginning. One learns that the Countess Lia Villani has just lost her husband and that he was old enough to be her father. However, in future chapters, their marriage is explained as one of convenience, with warmth and he actually saved her as a young girl and took care of her until the day he died.
A dark alpha is the only way to describe Roark Navarre, an extremely successful and ruthless man; a man on mission to purchase a park and build a project like no other. However, Lia stands in the way because she wants to build a park in her sister's memory. He's determined to win at any cost and "crashes" her fund raiser but is totally knocked off his feet when he gets his first glimpse of this beauty. She's not only lovely and curvy, she's exquisite and he's determined to seal the deal in more ways than one and he will have her at any cost!
Imagine a fundraiser that means the world to you, there's this dark and handsome man who makes you feel things you've never felt in your entire life, he pays a million dollars for a dance with you, blatantly kisses you on the dance floor in front of your friends and chases you out of a posh hotel. Think that's too much, well think again. When Roark reveals his plans to purchase her park property a light bulb snaps on when Lia learns her family and the ruthless businessman have a past, one that destroyed her very own parents and sister.
On top of this the passion explodes between them at her villa, in a closet and on and on, there's absolutely no stopping the power of their physical attraction. Then abruptly everything ends when Roark doesn't get what he wants, the land. They keep so many secrets from each other; however in the end Roark bears his sole to Lia but Lia is still keeping a most precious secret from him. Of course like all secrets the time comes when Roark learns hers and revenge and punishment are at the top of his list. Have tissues ready, you'll need them!
Roark is ruthless and forces Lia into a horrible relationship, one to please only him and also threatens to use her because of the secrets she's kept from him Lia is also at fault by keeping the most important secret of all from Roark. This book is not for the weak at heart, it's so intense at times it made this reader breathless!
The Innocent's Dark Seduction was marvellous to read......the lust, passion, revenge, forgiveness and then realization they love each other was just another example of an exceptional contemporary romance written by the extremely talented Jennie Lucas.
