5.0 out of 5 stars Has lost nothing in 2D, 29 Nov. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: TT : Closer to the Edge (2 disc edition) [DVD] (DVD)
Being a four wheel fan who has a great deal of respect for two wheel racing, I initially saw Closer To the Edge at the cinema, in 3D. It was an amazing film then, and now firmly in the 2D realm for this home release it has lost absolutely nothing -except maybe the credits and a few staged onboard shots looking superfluous. The print looks a tiny bit bleached out in some of the interview segments, I presume from the initial 3D processing, but is generally superb. Devoid of the gimmicks and distractions of 3D, this film is every bit as compelling as it was it the cinema, and with two hours of extras is worth every penny. Guy Martin rightly steals the show, so I'd not recommend it to fans of his rivals, however! With this and the Senna film, motorsport fans should rejoice that such large budget documentaries are now available. A magnificent film.

Can you explain something please? There are two disks. Are they the same but one in 3d blu-ray and the other standard dvd. Or is the second disk special features? Thanks

Sorry Burlo, I only bought the DVD version -which has the main film on one disc and all the extras on the second disc. Hope this helps.
