Not the best arrangement for solo guitar,

This review is from: 12 Spanish Dances by Granados (Paperback)
This seemed like it might be a good volume to have as the arrangement I could see from "look inside" revealed that it would be quite accessible to work with and clearly laid out. Unfortunately though, the solo arrangement seemed to have missed the point by erring in the direction of too much sparsity. The start of Dance No. 2 should be haunting, almost hypnotic as it sets up the the melody, but as presented here (all on the guitar's bottom two strings) it's impossible to achieve the desired effect without either adding in ligados which aren't in the music or moving the whole phrase up to the fourth position.
I didn't study all twelve dances closely in this version as I was sufficiently put off by the look and feel of the ones I did to want to send the book back.
On the good side, the book was spiral bound which is a big plus for any kind of music where pieces go across several pages. There is also a very helpful historical section on the composer and background to each dance - very nice to have. Just a shame about the arrangements.
