DON'T DO IT - hours of woe!,
This review is from: TomTom GO LIVE 1000 4.3" Sat Nav with Europe Maps (45 Countries) (Electronics)Granted, it's a good satnav, but TomTom's always have been.
OK screen, intuitive controls, great mounting.
BUT... the interface to Mac is not just woeful, it is non-existent. That means no map updates and no Speed Camera updates - which means your camera warning database is going to be 6 months old from the off. And they have fooled you - the only LIVE update for cameras via Road Angel is for mobile cameras - not for fixed cameras. This means that you are running off 2 databases - one for mobile cameras that (they say) updates daily and one for fixed ones that you can't update at all. There is no way of confirming any kind of LIVE update at all.
To compound these woes, you can only get support by email and that is from a monkey typing from a set script. They cannot advise beyond the usual reset the unit, turn your computer off and on, check the operating system and internet browser.
UPDATE: eventually replaced unit. Same problem. Only now the unit says "your maps are 7 months old - you need to update" whereas the MyTomTom portal says "All the maps are up-to-date" EVEN THOUGH it can't connect! I am beginning to wonder what HD traffic is actually capable of, if the unit can't even update when connected to a laptop!
