Some items to consider when buying this recorder,
This review is from: LG RHT398H Freeview+ 250GB TV and DVD Recorder with 1080P Upscaling (Electronics)I thought I would update this comment to include the latest annoyance.
This box can only track 20 items to be recorded. Setup a couple of kids programmes on series link which are on each day and you soon fill up the Memory. You then have to keep deleting things 'to be recorded' from memory before you can set something else to be recorded.
I would not have bought this box if I had read some of these reviews, you have be warned......
I upgraded my analogue hard drive recorder to the LG RHT398H along with upgrading my tv to Toshiba 37XV555DB - 37" Widescreen 1080P Full HD LCD TV.
DVD's look great played through this player to my new TV, the 250 GB's will certainly hold plenty and it does not seem to be very noisy when it starts up but I'm only really leaving this feedback to make you aware of the limitations.
There only appears to be the one digital tuner which means you can not watch something else while it is recording. Not so much of a problem as the TV comes with a digital tuner, but this means you have to keep changing controllers.
The 8 day electronic program guide is bit basic, you have to do a lot of scrolling.
The player has some interesting flaws. It stops playing a pre-recorded program while is starts recording another. It also does not appear to track where you stopped watching a program. This is a pain if you are in the middle of a film.
I have also had the issue with the subtitles mentioned in another review, but it is easy to turn off and seems to be intermittent?
I nearly took a risk on buying one of the LG widescreen tv's, but this purchase confirms that LG are truly focussed on the price concious market and may not be the best value solution.
