Dead Space 3,
This review is from: Dead Space 3 (Xbox 360) (Video Game)I'll be honest, Dead Space is the only game I've ever played in my time that really freaked me out with it's unnerving atmosphere and mysterious storyline regarding the Markers and where they came from. I was never in it for Gameplay but the series from 1 to 3 has had the same basic controls so no complaints there.
I was lucky enough to get my grubby mitts on this game a few days earlier than release. The start of the game was fairly decent, it re-introduced the characters as well as giving us some new additions. The Prologue on Tao Volantis was brilliantly played out in terms of story and mystery. However when I got midway through I started to get the feeling the game was...repetitive. Dead Space 2 never really freaked me out as much as the first one and Dead Space 3 just missed that original feeling completely for me. After completing the game I felt an all too familiar feeling. I was instantly reminded of Mass Effect 3.
Much like the scene from ME3 where Shepard finally meets the Catalyst, in this game we meet the main human antagonist Jacob Davik. Everything before that point was peachy for me, but then as soon as I saw what the source of the Marker's was aka the final boss I had an instant facepalm moment. I won't go into it seeing as it's all spoilery and such but the events that happened just before and directly after the final boss fight completely destroyed the respect I had for the game. That being said, is Dead Space 3 bad?
No. It's actually pretty damn fun and worth a purchase. If you're still unsure then go rent it or watch some videos online. You'll soon figure out if you want to try it or not. The game has it's classic gameplay with some added extras, the Bench is pretty cool. I wasn't too crazy about dumping the store over this horrible microtransaction garbage but it's EA and they were voted worst company in 2012 for a reason, but now I'm rambling.
The game is good but it can get a little boring. Mixing it up with Co-Op is fun for a while before it seems to suffer from the same repetition. But that's just me.
Overall, worth a purchase but not a very satisfying installment to the once creepy series.
