I was looking for a pair of noise cancelling headphones for travelling, especially on planes. These have had good reviews elsewhere and on Amazon.com.
I've had these a couple of weeks and have tried them in a few different environments (car, bus, office) but not yet on a plane.
The sound quality with noise cancelling on is excellent. Listen to something like an acoustic guitar and you'll hear string buzz or slide which you'd never noticed before. Vocals are clean. The cancelling itself certainly works well, removing low frequency rumble so I expect these to perform well on the plane (as they did on the gadget show where they got 5/5).
Turn the noise cancelling off and the sound becomes somewhat 'muddier'. You'll lose the crispness and clarity (not surprising since the internal amp is off), although I view this as a backup mode for when the batteries die and you're not carrying spares. At least they still work, unlike some others!
Construction seems pretty good with a nice solid build quality and detachable, heavy cable to connect to your music player. Materials are quality with nice solid hinges allowing the headphones to fold.
I've used these in the office to cutout background noise (such as printers, aircon etc), was happy to wear these for a couple of hours without issue.
Overall these are a good value pair of quality headphones for under £100.
