GOOD RUSSIAN SHOW,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Stravinsky and the Ballets Russes: The Firebird and The Rite of Spring [Blu-ray] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
I can understand why audiences fought when Le Sacre du Printemps was premiered in 1913, the score was nothing like anything they had heard before, the dance contained jumps and steps that were not like traditional ballet. A new dawn for ballet that it was to last to this day.
The sound of the Marinsky Orchestra under maestro Gergiev takes your reath away especially if you listen in DTS-HD master audio mode.
The corps de ballet are well rehearsed and are pleasant to watch.
Remember that this is not sweet and flowing ballet movement but rhythmic and pulsating sounds and a lot of stamping, just go with the flow and don't be shocked.
