The requiem itself of course is a sublime and fantastic piece of music. I want to briefly comment on this recording of it. Although released in 2000, it is from an original recording by the Berlin Philharmonic in 1962. I feel that the adio quality suffers due to its age. The sound is a little muffled and the individuals contributions of each musician and singer do not stand forth with the crispness we are now accustomed to. In addition the dynamic range seems a little limited - great for listening to in the car or as background, but it does reduce the impact of the piece.
