Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: 320GB Internal Slim Hard Disk Drive for XBOX 360 (Electronics)
On arrival very happy with product, easy to fit and gave plenty of storage space. As with all hard drives some memory is lost due to formatting 320gb is actually 294gb when in use. Xbox shows the hard drive as Microsoft however it isn't :(
If you buy this hard drive so you can play Xbox original games on a 360 don't because it isn't a Microsoft HDD at all as it doesn't have the hidden data from Microsoft to allow you to play them. When you load an original game it shows an error downloading, please try again. Don't waste your time it won't download. I know this because my purchase was an upgrade and when I put the my original 120gb back into the system it worked.
The price of this product may look good but if you want to play Xbox original games this product isn't for you!!!!

Did you transfer the data from your existing HDD onto this before using it? If you didn't you will get the results you describe.

you do know every system including ps3 desktop pcs & macs, all need a system reserve space on the hdd depending on the size of the disk. if you have an memory stick from 4gb above plug it in configure it to the 360 and you will notice the gb is less than its size. thats the system reserve space for updates etc. the bigger the disk the more is asks the hdd or sdd for space for the updates and os

So, playing Xbox 360 games will work with this product or not? What do you mean by 'xbox original games' are you talking about the first xbox, xbox games? Ha I'm sorry, I don't understand...

I presume the reviewer means that they cannot play games from the first Xbox: authentic Microsoft harddrives come with an emulator code that allows you to put many old first Xbox games into your Xbox 360 and play them. If this HDD doesn't have that software, it is either not an authentic Microsoft product, or it is secondhand/wiped/refurbished in new casing.
Judging by the other reviews, this product should be fine for playing Xbox 360 games

you can play the old xbox games on your xbox 360 you just need to restore partition 2. It only takes 30 secs to do. Load Xplorer360 Extreme 2 as Administrator with your 3rd party HDD attached to pc and follow this guide-
