great book! recommended :),
This review is from: Colorwork Creations: 30+ Patterns to Knit Gorgeous Hats, Mittens and Gloves (Paperback)
I chose this book for my brother to buy for my birthday. I'm new to knitting, but find "normal" stuff tedious, so this is great! It was my first pair of mittens (or anything even vaguely coming close to this level of complexity!), and also my first colorwork project!
I am lucky to have a great knitting shop locally who helped me select appropriate wool, and then i knitted on wooden double pointed needles.
the patterns are beautiful, and intricate, and very enjoyable to knit. I knit on public transport, so they are a great size to carry in my handbag, and because i chose to knit on small runs of stitches (i knitted the mittens on 4 pairs of dpns), they're great if you're likely to be disturbed!
very recommended, and would be suitable for anyone from a relatively talented novice to an expert - good to learn on, but because the patterns are so lovely I think anyone would be happy to knit them.
the only slight criticism that I have is that I have quite small hands, and the mittens only just fit me - except for the thumb which is about an inch too long! I will also be knitting future mittens with a much longer cuff, as the one recommended looks very good and in scale, but i'm concerned i'll get a draught...!
overall - great book!
