Nice build quality and very reasonable, though poor instructions,

I'm not a pro by any means so to start off with the supplied documentation is really leaving a lot to be desired here, with not very clear instructions, tiny font sizes and just too short that for a beginner can be a somewhat tough task to get going with.
That said, after formatting the drive it is very straightforward to use and easy to load files onto. I use USB 2.0 still and for me it is a very satisfactory speed, just faster than my older portable pre-housed hard drive.
The build is quite impressive as you never really know what to expect with these sort of third-party things. The metal casing is strong and doesn't look like it will bend or dent easily, the LCD is bright, responsive and easy to read and supplying a mini screwdriver and screws is also a nice touch by Zalman.
The main usage this gets is for the .iso feature: not having to burn to a disk and having it straight on a SATA drive is immensely easier and more convenient, especially these days. I was almost humorously surprised to see a mini disk looking at me when I first opened the box, a bit of nostalgia, especially considering the main iso reason I was using this was. That said it is a great addition, providing easy one-click backup. That, and the carrying pouch would be enough for me to purchase this above the slightly less expensive HD housing cases.
