Great album with a lot of variety,
This review is from: Bomb In A Birdcage (MP3 Download)
Just got hold of this album today and really impressed.
A Fine Frenzy's first album "One cell in the Sea" is a great album with a very soft and gentle sort of feel to the music and lyrics and certain song on that album almost felt like they wanted to lift off but never quite managed - "Bomb in a Birdcage" on the other hand is packed with energy and really pushes A Fine Frenzy's sound a lot further without losing the contemplative melodies and lyrics which made the first album so good.
There are some very catchy tunes on this album and a couple of quite unexpected styles of music. Songs like 'Electric Twist' and 'Blow Away' are really upbeat, fun and radio friendly and really showcase how versatile Alison Sudol and her band can really be. A particular stand out track for me was 'Stood Up' which is a heavily guitar driven indie sounding track which reminds me of Kings of Leon.
If you weren't too sure about 'One Cell in the Sea' then this entire album is much stronger, and if you loved One cell in the Sea you'll probably love this album too. Well worth the purchase.
