This review is from: Naeturvaktin (Night Shift, Icelandic TV series) (DVD)
I watched it on TV in the original series on BBC but went out and bought it on DVD from Iceland, watched it again laughed even more and then passed that on to some friends to enjoy. A totally laugh filled series. The characters are terrific, set in bleak Icelandic setting in an even bleaker service station at night would make you wonder how can it be funny. It is. I wish more people watched it like me and enjoyed it. It has not got the recognition it deserves. I went on to buy Day Shift, Prison Shift and the final feature film which gives a brilliant ending to the series. I just love the Icelanders after this. It has made me interested enough to want to visit the country. It makes you realise humour is universal. They could have filmed it in Britain and we would not have known the difference. Just fabulous.

It would never have been filmed in Britian as we are too scared to make light of assaulting stroke victims, lactating men or likening people to 'disabled kindergarteners'. That said, I would agree that I am now keen to go to Iceland and experience some of the bleakness!
