This review is from: Tabloid Girl (Paperback)
Having worked at a national newspaper (not as a journalist) I didn't find Sharon's shocking tales as hard to believe as your regular office worker, however I am not convinced she hasn't given some of her 'true stories' a bit of tabloid treatment. Some tales seem exaggerated but nevertheless it is still an entertaining read the bones of which probably are true. I especially enjoyed reading the chapter about the 'kidnap' of Jade Goody's mum to ensure her paper got the exclusive when Jade was released from the BB house. An interesting (and frightening) insight into tabloid life. Not sure how much of this sort of practice still goes on post-Leveson, maybe the hacks are a bit more covert about it these days? Aspiring hacks will enjoy this, just hope it doesn't put you off!
