Another Late Night
Record Label: Azuli Records
Release Date: 10th of February
From the 'Back to Mine' entity, was born Another Late Night. Conceived on a relationship of aspiring passion between the compiler's inspirations and downbeat nocturnal musical delicacies, Kid Loco incarnates the seventh seed.
Defending their cultural values, the French have been at the forefront of contempary thinking always. Master Loco, inspired by the likes of the Clash, comes armed with a guitar and electronic beats not unlike compatriots Air and Dimitri from Paris. Not content with this he delves into reggae and hip hop.
Time has passed since Tommy Guerrero's Another Late Night, an opus of groove, funk and a fry-up of matured world flavours. Kid is conceptual and tells a story. From Guerrero's insobrieties comes the ever approaching morning from the dark of The Baby Namboos 'Ancoats 2 Zambia' epitomised by the luminosity of track 6 and Tommy Hools' 'Barcelone'. Public Image on track four would be Kid falling onto his bed, gaze towards the ceiling, room spinning. 'Summer Love' would be the first hint of that insomniac bird sensing the aurora. By the time the 'Domino Boys' on track 17 reach us, day is breaking - the commuters have put on their radios and the milkman is doing his rounds. Up then to track 19 'Spooked' by the Fleevans - or Kid should be as his alarm sounds. Marie et les Garçons with 'Attitudes' is one of those great French rock sounds, reminiscent of teenage rebellion as Kid nods off back to sleep... Maybe that's the story Kid wants to tell.
A more contemporary affair than previous collections, Kid Loco is another one of those artists makes the series Another Late Night crisp and fresh. He doesn't have that 4am and still wide awake partying groove that Rae & Christian or Guerrero brought. Yet at the same time, you could quite easily imagine putting all seven records on one night. Loco's would come as you drift in and out of sleepiness - not sure if you are ready to end Another Late Night.
