5.0 out of 5 stars Works a treat, 3 Jun. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: TeckNet USB 3.0 4 Ports PCI Express Interface USB 3.0 Expansion Card With 5V 4-Pin Power Connector for Desktops (Electronics)
Installed this on an x64 Windows 2008 Server Core with the latest drivers from VLI's site - use the VL800 drivers. It does need a Molex plug to power the board, but wasn't an issue for me as I had plenty spare. My only issue with the hardware install was that, whilst the card fitted well with the PCI slot, same can't be said for the screw slot and end plate, I'm guessing this is an issue with my case/mobo combo than the card itself. Didn't stop the card from working and given it's on a server with little adding/removing devices, not an issue for me.

The install program ran perfectly on Server Core and installed the drivers (I'm guessing the Win7 x664 ones). Only software install issue is that it also installed an app which doesn't run on Core, just delete it! Using it with two 500GB USB drives and getting consistent 60MB-80MB transfer rates. A USB2 drive I've got worked without issues too.

I've ordered another one for my desktop - can't say better than that!

The same backplate issue for me as well on a new HP tower. Makes me think it may be a card issue as others fit fine.
