I'm a fan of Darren Shan. I liked the Saga of Darren Shan and I thought his take of vampires was refreshingly different although I have to admit the ending was absolutely terrible. However, I figured he'd tied himself in so many knots anyway there was no excusing it. I read Lord Loss and was unimpressed. Again, it had started okay but ended up slipping into very boring.
But I figured that he would get better so I got Demon Theif out of the library. Oh how wrong I was.
I ended up throwing the book across the room in disappointment. Darren Shan still hasn't realised that adding lots of gore doesn't mean a book is more mature or exciting or interesting. I mean, I'm all for gore, I love the freakin' stuff, but seriously... It just felt so immature. That's not my only problem though. The opening was lackluster and slow and then it was all so rushed into it made me wince.
