Gambled, and won!,

This review is from: The Lateness Of The Hour (Audio CD)
On previous occassions, I have gambled on an album on the strength of one track and been sorely disappointed (Sam Sparro & One Republic being the biggest ones to date), but The Lateness of the Hour is a definite winner.
Every track has it's own identity, from the almost punk era guitar of 'Up All Night', the drum & bass-esque 'Treading Water', the now instantly recogniseable 'Too Close' right through to the ballad 'I Won't Let You Down' there isn't a single weak track. Even the remix of the Prince track 'When Doves Cry' is not only refreshing but, dare I say it, better than the original.
My only concern is that Alex Clare has set the bar extremely high for any follow-up album and hope he doesn't 'do' a Terence Trent D'Arby!!!
