The great thing about this movie is that it's timeless. I've watched the movie a number of times and I always manage to discover something I missed on the previous occasion. The movie is a fun movie, not to be taken seriously it does a great job of entertaining - great family fun.
I'm not going to bother talking about the story or the acting because the film speaks for itself, it's an addictive Egyptian romp set in the 1930's that begs to be watched time and time again.
The transfer is good but not out of this world but it certainly does the job; the thing that impressed me more than anything was the sound transfer (DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track) is amazing. The soundtrack utilises both the score and dialogue and does a grand job of showing off the discreet effects throughout.
With animated audio commentaries from director Stephen Sommers and the editor Bob Ducsay, a 50 minute documentary called Building the better Mummy, deleted scenes and a few more to boot the blu ray is a must addition to your collection. Great escapism, adventure and good all round sound I thoroughly enjoyed this disc.
