Legend UK Blu-Ray,
This review is from: Legend [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Very disappointing release of Legend on blu-ray for the UK. I have since returned it and bought the US blu-ray version (region free). The differences are just to big to opt for the UK version. First of all the UK gets the European Cut and Director's Cut, these both carry the Jerry Goldsmith music score. I personally prefer the US Theatrical Cut with the Tangerine Dream score, so on that score (no pun intended) the US disc for me. The second point is the UK gets the Director's Cut in lossly DD5.1, whereas the US disc gets DTS-MA5.1 for both cuts....another win for the US disc. And finally, the UK gets a bonus feature of....a trailer. The US gets all the documentries, audio commentary and the rest of the bits and bobs from the Ultimate Edition DVD release....again another win for the US disc. So basically the one thing the UK disc has over the US disc is the European Theatrical Cut (running approx 4 mins longer than the US Theatrical Cut), however I would personally opt for the US Theatrical Cut as the complete change of music score from Jerry Goldsmith to Tangerine Dream makes a huge difference.
It's a shame the UK gets inferior releases sometimes (a la Legend, Scream 4, etc).

Mr. Stefan Smith says:
Mate are you sure it didn't have the Tangerine soundtrack? Other people on here say it does.

Positive, it even says on the opening credits to both versions, Jerry Goldsmith. Problem with the reviews on Amazon is that they lump all the reviews together for a particular title so you are not necessarily reading a review of the blu-ray, it could be the DVD or even VHS. I note one review which says it has the Tangerine Dream score but if you look closer at the top of the review it is a review of the US blu-ray import. Please believe me, the US theatrical cut with the Tangerine Dream score is not on the UK disc, it has the European cut with the Jerry Goldsmith score. Hope that helps!

DM Bunny says:
Other reviews say on here that is has the Tangerine Dream soundtrack because Amazon has been up to its usual trick of lumping all the reviews for totally different versions of the same product on the same page. if you look closely , you'll see that those who mention Tangerine Dream are reviewing the US version. It says so on the top line of the review.

No problem, I've watched the US version in its entirety now and the quality in picture is so better than the UK version as well.

Many thanks for this, mate. The Tangerine Dream version is the one I grew up with - taped off the BBC! - so I'd have been VERY annoyed if I'd ended up without it. Wasn't even very much more expensive to buy an import copy. Great advice - much appreciated.
