Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Arthas (World of Warcraft) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is one of the worst books I have ever read. I took two books on holiday with me, this and 'The girl with the dragon tattoo'. The gulf in ability between the two authors is immense. I thought Richard Knaak's stories were poor, but compared to Ms Goldie he is a prize-winner.
Ms Goldie's version of events is badly written from start to finish. The young Arthas has no personality whatsoever; a cardboard cut-out would have done just as well. I also found the idea of Prince Kaelthas getting jealous over Arthas and Jaina's feeble romance as laughable. Really? Prince of the High Elves falling for a human girl? Come on.
If you really want to learn more about Arthas, play Warcraft 3 and the expansion, The Frozen Throne. Then you will understand how Arthas went from being a Paladin to the Lich King. The game manages to give him much more depth of character than this book does, and dare I say it, you can sympathise with his downfall, too. Ms Goldie's Arthas is a complete dolt for whom I had no sympathy whatsoever.

Think you'll find that the love triangle between Arthas Jaina and Kaelthas is a well known part of the warcraft lore >.>
