Cory Doctorow writes about the complex issues such as privacy, online monitoring and the surveillance society in a way that young people will understand. Like most good books for young readers, this is a rite of passage tale: if you could call being on the business end of a terrorist attack on your home town and then being under suspicion of causing it by your government. And the rite of passage comes when you stick it to the man rather than letting him hold you back.
Doctorow's Jeffersonian-like of view of security apparatus leads to a rollercoaster adventure for young and old readers alike. The book is the for 21st century what War Games was for the 1980s. You may not agree with its politics but you will enjoy a good yarn and a great adventure
