This review is from: War without Garlands: Operation Barbarossa 1941-1942 (Paperback)
This is a very thorough treatise of the initial stages of Operation Barbarossa. The authors writing style is refreshing and done in such a way that it ends up as a real page turner. His narrative is constantly interspersed with first hand accounts from combatants from both sides which gives a fascinating insight into the campaign. Before reading this book i didnt realize how chewed up the whermacht were by the time they were in a position to advance on Moscow. After reading this book you will understand why the German army werent in a position to win the Russian war in 1942 - they were simply spent.
