The Best So Far....,
This review is from: X-Men 2: Wolverine's Revenge (PS2) (Video Game)
Wolverines Revenge on PS2 is by far the best comic character genre game to hit the PS2 so far. It has moved from the streetfighter style that we are used to with X-Men and has moved into a more sofistated RPG type game. You play wolverine from the new movie and you begin the game by finding out that you are infected with a virus and in order to save yourself you must fight your way into Magneto's fortress in order to obtain the inti-virus.
The game has small, yet good graphics and the action is fast paced and intense with a good sense of suspense with the excellent built-in movie sequences. As you progress in the game you earn combat points which give you an ever increasing array of fighting combo moves which get more fantastic and acrobatic as the game goes on. The game does have its faults though as some levels can reach that point where they are so tactical that they become almost impossible to defeat and this can be very frustrating. The gameplay can aslo be quite monotonous from time to time as wave after wave of "cannon fodder" come to try and take you out, with often laughable skill. But, all in all the use of wolverines amazing healing ability, "Ferrel" mode and super-human animal instincts combined with stealth kill capability and un-lockable bonus features make this a game that is well worth parting with your cash for. Maybe a 2 player option added on next time would just put the icing on the cake??
