Fairly bland, and where's the maple and pecan???,

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
On the face of it, Alpen (one of my favourite cereals) mixed with maple and pecan (two of my favourite flavours) seems like a winning combination. This is slightly different than regular Alpen in that it's the company's take on porridge, which fortunately I also love.
Making it couldn't be much simpler - open one of the sachets, put the contents into a microwaveable bowl, add 150ml of milk, mix the stuff then microwave it for 2 minutes. It comes out of the microwave more or less ready to eat, albeit a bit runny, but leaving it to rest for a minute afterwards helps alleviate that.
Although handy, each sachet makes what I think would be an okay amount for a child but not for an adult. As for the taste, well there is some there but none of the ingredients come out as much as they should - neither the Alpen flavour nor the maple or pecan is anything more than barely discernible. It supposedly contains chunks of pecan nuts, fruit and other lovely things, but in reality, apart from the odd sultana, these are almost non-existent.
As much as I should like porridge that contains maple and pecans, this one just isn't as good as it sounds or as it should be; if you're looking for a thick cereal with huge taste, you'd better look elsewhere. I'm also not sure where the Alpen connection comes in, but I don't get much of that, either.
