Stylish but pricey,

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I already own a manual salt and pepper set from this manufacturer and have been very pleased with them. I looked forward to the 'upgrade'.
When my electronic set arrived I was pleased with the presentation and look of the pair. However, there are a few notable 'cons'.
They take 6 batteries each, not 6 in total as stated in the product description. Frankly, 12 batteries is ridiculously OTT for a minor kitchen gadget and the cost of replacing them would far outway any joy at their usage.
Secondly, the set doesn't come with any contents. I found this rather odd as the packaging goes on about the quality of the salt and pepper! As another reviewer has said, it would make them a bit difficult to give as a gift since you'd have to supply packets of salt and pepper and 12 batteries to make it 'good to go' straight out of the box. I hate packaging composite presents so would probably avoid these.
Having said that, they look very stylish, are easy to use and I didn't find them all that noisy (but I have no experience of other brands). Best of all, they deposit a tiny amount of condiment per 'pulse' so you can control your seasoning easily.
I think the decision whether or not to buy these would depend on how much you go for looks over practicality and how much you are prepared to pay for a one-handed salt/pepper grinder. They do the job, certainly, but could have been so much better with a little forethought. I wonder how many will be used once and then stay in the box?
