Something slightly different,
This review is from: Whiplash (Xbox) (Video Game)
Whiplash is guaranteed to, at some point in the game, make you laugh. Or at least smile a few times. It is a platformer with a sense of humour. Basic premise is that a weasel and a rabbit are joined together by a chain and must escape from an animal testing company's enormous factory. Spanx (the weasel) uses Redmond (the rabbit) as a kind of swiss army rabbit - i.e. he uses him in whatever way is necessary to progress. This could be in the form of whipping enemies, clogging up machinery, filling him with helium to rise to higher platforms, etc.
Dialogue is well scripted and entertainingly presented, although the wise cracks made by Redmond can get repetitive after a while. But a lot of the humour is also visual - so if cartoons can make you laugh then so can this.
Gameplay is fairly standard platforming stuff, but the idea of two characters rather than one adds some depth. The puzzles are varied and challenging at times, but nothing should hold you up for too long. Some areas can become repetitive, when you have to walk down a corridoor and jump over lasers for the umpteenth time you feel that the game designers could have just left the corridoor out altogether.
Overall though this is a platformer which can hold it's own against the stiff competition out there, has some original elements and will try very hard to make you laugh.
