This review is from: High Hopes (Paperback)
This book is a succession of luvvie showbiz anecdotes told one after another with hardly a pause for breath. Consequently, it's fairly entertaining and read quickly. But the overall impression is of rather a vain man who doesn't care too much about ordinary people. Maybe that's harsh, but Corbett's writing style is devoid of real emotion or feeling and lacks depth - there's certainly no insight into the human condition here. And when at one point he darkly remarks that he often has no patience with autograph hunters, you begin to form a picture. One further thing: note how many times something is 'wonderful' or 'very good' - you may lose count.
