Lose the commentary,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation - Las Vegas - Season 4 Part 1 [DVD] (DVD)
Like many other reviewers, I am a great fan of CSI, and having watched some on TV and found that I could get no continuity, as New York and Miami were also being shown at the same time, I decided to start at the beginning via DVD. As I near the end of a series I order the next season, and now I am up to 4.
The actual programmes retain their quality in terms of interest and surprise, but as another reviewer mentioned, we have gained a commentary on some episodes by various combinations of producer, writer, director and cameraman, and when these first popped up I declined to have the commentary, so no harm done.
However, getting to disc two of part one, and specifically Jackpot, at the point of being asked whether I wanted it or not, I found that the curser would not move to "No", so had the option of the commentary or not watching the episode. Naturally I didn't wish to miss the episode, so proceeded with the commentary, only to find I virtually missed the dialogue anyway. The commentary is loud and intrusive, and as stated concentrates on the two parties saying how clever they were to have thought of certain words or camera angles etc.
I was extremely annoyed and disappointed to have my entertainment hijacked like this, and I sincerely hope this will not be repeated throughout the season, as I may have to reconsider whether to buy any more. I assume I have got a rogue disc here, but to be honest, if the makers must blow their own trumpets in this way, would sooner see it as an extra than attempt to waffle on over the episode itself.
