same old rip off,
This review is from: Peter Kay: Live & Back on Nights [DVD] (DVD)
Well im lucky to be the first reviewer after making my purchase weeks ago for the wife.
here we have Peter Kay at his very best, or worst i should say. not since Special Kay have we had such an expensive monologue of clips and rehashed materials, yes, there is SOME new material but not as much as the DVD claims. Instead we are again faced with interviews from people all over the Uk declaring their love for Peter and what they like best about his shows which is fine if it was bundled as a special feature - which is what this should have been. Not only that but we have a multitude of old clips from various TV spots, appearances and the like which again are ok in moderation and if they were bundled as a special feature.
For example, this is whats on the DVD:
1: Couple of interviews with the public
2: about 35 minutes of extended footage of peter kay looking around the gig with camera? why
3: various tv spots from look north?
4: a few interviews to pad it out with peter
5: about 10 minutes of ACTUAL new (not yet convinced) stand up
I understand the need to make a living but releasing these types of DVD's is just money grabbing and ripping off your loyal customers. We do love you Peter and you need to make a better effort with the quality of your DVD's in future or you will just end up being known for a comedian that peddles rubbish in the hope that the gullible UK public spend their hard earned cash on your DVD's for xmas presents.
This should have been a special feature addon to the DVD which was released last year.
As i have said above, we as a family love your comedy, timing and comedic presence but we do not appreciate being ripped off every year.

I was considering buying this dvd but was concerned that it would be mainly rehashed material so thank you for clearing that up - I won't bother purchasing as we have some of his other material already.

I kind of anticipated this. Thanks for confirming my suspicions, I'll spend the money on a decent takeaway instead!

who said there was dupe material? The fact remains this is a rip off quite simply put.

I love peter kay as a comedian, however having been ripped off with some of his previous dvd re hashes, I decided to hold back as a couple of clips advertised are on his previous dvd, thanks for your review will wait till it is in the £3 bargain bin after xmas!!

Honestly, if your DVD actually relies on "Now including over 55 minutes of new live-stand up", you're already in a bad place. ... When it turns out even this isn't true... Yeah. Thank-you for letting me know that I was right to be very wary of this "new" release.

Couldn't agree more Kay needs to take a leaf out of Ross noble's book.
Now I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but ignore that and look at the quality of his releases multiple disks 2hour+ shows with loads of bonus footage, fun features, quizzes, and never ever any repeated jokes ever.
Like a lot of people I love peter Kay but I am tired of him milking it and for some time now I've felt robbed with the quality, quantity, and repetition of his content

Thank you for that informative post, i shall be looking into some of Mr Nobles DVD's after reading that. I feel happy to support ANY comedian who gives their customers good value for money. Have you ever watched some of Bill Baileys work? He is hilarious and while not having much special features again he NEVER repeats material.
