This is by no means a game of the year contender, unless awards can still be given out for five or so years ago. This game certainly doesn't look like it should have been released when it did, with the visuals appearing dated by today's standards. However, if you are able to see past the graphics then a fun, if at times infuriating, little title awaits.
This is mission driving so expect high speed chases, races, surveillence and checkpoint hunting all among oncoming traffic. The game is based on a German television programme, and the dubbing into English is horrific as well as humourous. There are no weapons in the game and never can you get out of the vehicle, making Crash Time very similar to the original two Driver games. The missions get gradually more difficult as the game goes on, and there are three difficulties to choose from, the hardest difficulty level forcing your driving to be near perfect to beat the time limits. This is where the infuriation comes from as you may see your target but not quite make it before the timer runs out.
This is generally a fun game but for a few small faults. The radar on screen is helpful but not always easy to follow as there is nothing to distinguish the vertical axis, which can become frustrating when you can see a road coming up but can't take it as you are on an overpass. Another visual problem is when other cars go through tunnels as they do not use lights, making darker coloured vehicles invisible until you crash into them.
Overall Crash Time is fun for a budget title, although the lack of "on-foot" action may not make it to everyone's taste.
