A simple overview of the IVF process,

This review is from: IVF: The Wayward Stork:What to expect, who to expect it from, and surviving it all. (Paperback)Having read the other reviews on this book, I decided to get it anyway as I liked the fact that it was written by two women who had been through IVF themselves.
It is very basic in its explanation of the IVF process and is a good introduction to what happens when and why. I did learn a few things - like how the different home pregnancy tests differ and about the different post-transfer blood tests - but most of the medical stuff I'd read elsewhere.
What I did like was the humour and the very honest account of how much time you will need for yourself - this is especially relevant if you're one of those people who is constantly asked to do this and that for every organisation you are associated with. I can also see myself throwing 'fries at the McDonalds guy because they're not salty enough'. It's also made me think about who we will tell what and who we will get to be our support team.
It is patronising in places - like advising the reader not to roll sleeves down too quickly after a blood test to avoid getting blood on your blouse. I would imagine that by the time you get to IVF treatment, most women will have had blood taken a few times!
I doubt I will refer to this book again now that I've read it.
