I got this mouse to replace a Microsoft Intellimouse that was finally starting to show its age. Unfortunately, despite the superficial similarity it is rather shorter and otherwise has a very different feel in the hand from the classic Intellimouse, and to me at least is actually quite uncomfortable.
In short if you are looking for a drop in replacement for an Intellimouse, this is not the mouse for you.
On the positive side it seems quite sturdy, as you would expect from a Microsoft mouse.
If you are just looking for a decent Microsoft mouse, than I sure this could do the job quite well.

My intellimouse died so I'm on the hunt for a replacement too. What did you find in the end?

Sorry about the late reply
I stuck with the Intellimouse for a while but eventually got a Logitech M500. It's not bad, but more expensive and IMO not quite as comfy as an Intellimouse, but I have got used to it. I'm not sure what a left-hander would do, because it has a distinctly handed shape.
I would suggest looking at Logitech mice, they seem to be the best at the moment. And go into a computer store and try a few in your hand if you can
