This review is from: Brother HL-2250DN Compact Network Mono Laser Printer with Auto Duplex (Personal Computers)
This printer is a neat size, if a little noisy when in operation. Worry: while the initial toner cartridge lasted it worked fine - including double-sided. It does however, not necessarily accept compatible cartridges (e.g. MoreInks) - still trying out various brands hoping that I don't have to pay the full price of a Brother original cartridge which is extremely expensive.
I've used the printer now for over a year and it has had medium hard use. I have used various replacement cartridges and some were better than others, but when the cartridge was good, so was the print. No markings, not smudges. Duplex works fine and so does printing on card (160 g/sqm). Black & white images print well if the printer settings are on higher quality, but there are also ink-saving options which still give good quality for everyday use.
The machine produces good prints for a good price. Yes, it is a little noisy and slower than other machines, but I feel that it gives good value for money. It's a good size for the functionality and the square shape makes it easy to 'tuck away' in a corner. Changing cartridge and paper is easy and if not handles carelessly the materials seem robust enough to give more years of service.
I've had the printer for over 2 years now and it's had moderate use and not a single problem. Even when at some stage a sheet of paper got jammed in an awkward place, it was, in the end, comparatively easy to remove it totally and without damaging anything. Still happy and very good value for money!
