Best Strategy Game on the Xbox,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: XCOM Enemy Unknown (Xbox 360) (Video Game)The Xbox has had a few Strategy games on it and most havent been very good, the main problem is the controller.
Most Strategy games are ported from the pc and are designed around a mouse and keyboard control scheme, and most fail when changed to console due to the restrictions in the amount of buttons.
But X-Com has always been a well designed Strategy game needing only a few controls and is also very easy to learn, the Xbox controller works very well on this updated version of the game and the tutorial for X-Com is in the form of a story which teaches you all you need to know, the learning curve for the game is near perfect, giving you time to get the hang of things, but keeping up the pressure so you dont get bored or get over confident.
The graphics are pretty good for this style of game, the game isnt going to win any awards for them but they are clear and well designed.
As for sound its all well done, from the voice acting to combat,it fits the game style and X-Com.
If your an old fan of the series then buy it right now its been brought up to date and is near perfect as you can get, If you like strategy games or want to try one then buy it as you wont find anything near as good on the XBox.

groucho one says:
can you tell me what is the completion time, is it linear game play or not, and how good are the online features if you have tried them thx...

game isnt linear, you choose a location for your base and you defend the earth from aliens, you respond to attacks from the aliens by completing missions on random maps set around the world, completion time is up to you can be played for 100s of hours or you can play on easy and rush through in probably 20-30 hours,if you rush through on higher levels you will be slaughtered as you need to gather resources and research equipment for your team,i havent tried multiplayer as im not interested in it.
