This review is from: A Dance With Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, Book 5) (Hardcover)
This is about the quality of the writing rather than a fast pace. In that way, this and its sister book are different from the first three books. Read it chapter by chapter and youll enjoy it as much as I have.

Yes the quality of writing is very good but not amazing. I found both 'feast' and 'dance' to be very slow paced but well written. There is no doubt that I am enjoying the series but I think the author has lost his way with it. The story has not advanced in any significant way in 11 years!!! This is a joke and unacceptable. Good writing or not this door stopper needs a good editor and this series needs to move on a bit. 11 years and non major plot advancement and how long before we get the next book? another 6 years? maybe 8 or more? will we ever see the end of this story.....I lost hope on reading this and while I will buy the next book, if it comes out, I won't be too pushed about it.

Hm. I AM taking my time with it - actually, I've been reading for about a month now, chapter by chapter, and still I cannot agree with you simply because some chapters are exceedingly boring. But that's just my opinion; loved the other four books.
