Essential all time classic melodic rock!,
This review is from: Valentine (Audio CD)
I have had this on CD for years and years, as I found it on (very expensive!) import when I was in my late teens. This has not really ever been off my play list, as it is such a classic album, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
The story is that there were so many bootleg copies of this going around, as the buzz about Valentine had been sooooo huge, that when it did finally get a proper release, it did not sell as well as hoped. This is a massive shame, as this really is a top of the range album, not a bad track in sight. As with some of the Ratt albums, the use of electronic drums is my only very minor gripe, as the whole thing is just a glorious slice of top notch melodic rock from start to finish. You have ripping guitars, glorious melodies and harmonies, together with the required "big chorus" of this type of music. Rockers, ballads, it's all there, along with some more "tongue in cheek" moments - how did the pig get in there???
They did finally record again, firstly under the name of "Open Skyz" many years later, and also a fairly recent comeback album but, the whole feel of these albums (especially the Open Skyz one) doesn't come close to this one, it's an absolute belter!!!
If you like your so called "radio rock" along the lines of Bon Jovi, Journey, House of Lords, White Sister etc etc, then this HAS to be in your collection.
Nuff said, now go and buy......
