Very pleased to see another book from this excellent duo. I want to read it so much that I have gone against my principles and paid more for the Kindle version than for the hardback.
Amazon say that the Kindle price is 'set by the publisher' Well the publisher is being plain greedy and has clearly learned nothing from the misadventures of the music industry. This is the first and last time I will pay over the odds for a Kindle book - we are being taken to the cleaners. What excuse can there be? The publishers don't have to maintain stock, they don't have to handle returns, every sale is a firm sale. It costs peanuts to prepare the book as an e-book, and once done, it never has to be done again (I know: I publish e-books). They just sit there and take the excess profits.
I just hope that the book is good enough for me to have gone against my own recommendation, which is that readers should revolt against this profiteering. And perhaps Brian Cox should add his weight to the argument since he is presumably a supporter of new technology. If publishers followed the Apple model, and set their prices really low, their sales would be enormous, and their profits too.
