Star Trek All Star,
This review is from: Star Trek: Countdown TPB (Star Trek (IDW)) (Paperback)I received this book yesterday and i've just finished of reading it. Once you get started, you cannot stop because every page of this book is a huge surprise. Maybe i felt a lack of some trek spirit (just like moral and ethic questions). Although, we reach to a new era and breath in trek history, deffinatelly. But, after reading this, i think this book was made, first, for gathering new trek fans, following the propose that inspired this new movie. I'm worried about the way that star trek is taking...less philosophical, more action and space batles (in star wars fashion). But still a nice lecture, even for classic trek fan. I haven't seen the movie yet and i wouldn't until read this book first.
What about the story? Old Spock is an ambassador in Romulus and he warns the romulan senate about the danger that their planet runs: a star is about to turn into a nova. You will know Nero, a simple miner from Romulus that sees the danger while he's working . He and Spock are the only habitants of Romulus to warn the senate about the danger taht is about to ocurr but they remain in that old preconcept about vulcan people. Spock tells them he can find a solution but they won't listen...
About the caracters: you willl find a Star Trek All Star celebrities here. From Old Spock to Data (captain of the enterprise after Picards had moved for diplomatic career). Geordi as well, stills in his engineering thang and Worf that appears as captain of a Klingon Bird of Prey.
Maybe Spock is turning less logical and more sentimental? Don't know...Just felt it
Very funny the way this classic characters appear in the same book...
Very good for new readers and classic Roddenberry's franchise fans. But if you don't know Star Trek spirit enough, you'd better try TOS comics and DVDS.
