This review is from: Hanging Strawberry Planter - Gardman Hang Down Strawberry Grower - Two PackHaving a suitable outhouse I decided to try these planters as a way of keeping the birds and slugs off my strawberries. They are tough planters with strong handles and a feeding tube to aid the watering and are holding up well to the heat and weight of the compost and plants. The strawberries have survived much better this year!
Because they would be hanging against a wall I could only use one side of the planter openings, so bought extra bags to accomodate the plants I had lifted from the strawberry bed. Not wanting to increase the openings, which are quite small, I managed, with innovation, to ease the plants from inside the bag to the outside and the spare openings at the back have not lost any compost. With the spare bags I have experimented by filling them with Tumbler tomatoes and one with a couple of courgette plants. Apart from having to ensure frequent watering during this southerly drought, they are all doing brilliantly.
Perhaps you will benefit from having a watering can with a long spout to reach the feeding tubes to water and feed your plants. I think that, with care, these bags seem tough enough to last a few seasons and I am delighted with them.
