Disapointing collection with some localised bias.,
This review is from: Fifty Places to Dive Before You Die: Diving Experts Share the World's Greatest Destinations (Hardcover)
One the whole this book is ok, with several 'unusual' locations and some universally respected contributors. However, a numer of the recommendations come from people who run dive operations in that particular area. Yep, I'm sure their knowledge of their own patch is superb, but that doesn't always mean they are widely travelled or completely unbiased.
I've been fortunate enough to dive in more than 30 countries worldwide, including plenty contained in this book, and there are a number of glaring ommisions.
I'm not saying that this book is a complete waste of time (I've actually been on a trip to Hawaii, as a result of the advice), simply it should be taken for what it is ... a collection of tips from assorted people. Please don't think you're buying "The Definitive Dive Guide".
As some have already mentioned .... no Red Sea ?!
